My name is Lihi Lisser, I am a clinical social worker (M.S.W) and a psychotherapist. I am working with clients in Israel and virtually. I have been working in the field of mental health for about 15 years, both in public and private settings. But it wasn't until I had my own chronic pain experience that I got interested in the mind body connection and how it is related to both mental and physical health. Years of suffering from chronic pelvic pain, trying to figure out how to treat it, and trying every biomedical based treatment possible led me to Dr. Sarno's books as a kind of "last resort". This was the beginning of my own recovery process, which not only changed my personal life, but also changed completely my professional approach. For about a year, I did everything I could to educate myself about the mind body model. As a part of my training, I participated in both practitioners' courses led by Dr. Schubiner (Freedom from Chronic Pain and EAET). Using this approach not only helped me reach full recovery from my own chronic condition but also filled me with the confidence, motivation and hope to help others in their recovery journeys.
Nowadays, I work with people presenting with all kinds of chronic pain, and I dedicate a lot of my energy to trying to spread the word and educate other professionals in my field about this model. I integrate EAET and PRT into other modalities like psychodynamic psychotherapy, IFS, cognitive behavioral and somatic techniques. Based on this knowledge, as well as my own recovery experience, I try to tailor a treatment plan that meets each client's specific context and unlocks his or her own barriers to recovery.
